SCF partners with Aurizon to transition major mining supply chain to rail

SCF, Australia’s leading supplier of containerised solutions, has today announced a long-term agreement with Aurizon to deliver a significant volume of specialised tank and intermodal containers to support BHP’s Copper South Australia operations.

The project will see the conversion of the existing logistics task to a road and rail multi-modal solution that delivers both a reduced carbon emissions footprint, as well as enhanced safety outcomes. SCF will provide seven different types of containers as well as maintenance, washing and recertification services that will be completed in a purpose-built facility at their Adelaide depot.

SCF CEO Justin Speedy said, "This project reflects SCF’s commitment to partnering with our customers to deliver customised, high-quality logistics and storage solutions that address complex industry challenges. It showcases the strength of our experienced team and breadth of our best-in-class products, built over decades of servicing Australia’s mining, energy, and logistics sectors. Our significant investment in infrastructure and fleet ensures we provide safe, market-leading equipment and facilities."

General Manager of Tanks, Jamie Driscoll has worked closely with Aurizon to deliver a tailored solution for this project. “This agreement with Aurizon is the culmination of SCF’s commitment to develop products that deliver maximum payload allowing our customers to move to an intermodal supply chain model driving down emissions and reducing significant quantities of road transport. SCF’s ability to offer a bundled solution that provides both the required equipment, and the related maintenance & support services has been critical for our customer.”

The project is due to commence in October this year.
